How the numbers are made
Setpoint is a self-assessment, not a certification. It is deliberately simple so that every number on the report can be explained in one sentence.
01Structure
Three building blocks (Process, Technology, Organisation) hold eight pillars, which map onto sixteen measurable dimensions. Technology is a 3 by 3 matrix: Automation, Connectivity and Intelligence, each looked at on the shop floor, across the enterprise and in the facility. Every dimension has six band descriptors, written in plain language, one per band.
02Bands
Technology rows follow the same arc: manual, monitored, connected, analysed, optimised, autonomous.
- 0Not startedNo meaningful activity in this area yet.
- 1InitialAd hoc efforts, not coordinated or standardised.
- 2ManagedStructured processes, documented, with some digital tools.
- 3DefinedPlant-wide standards, systems integrated across departments.
- 4AdvancedData-driven optimisation is active and continuous.
- 5Cutting edgeAutonomous, self-optimising systems with AI-driven decisions.
03Scores
- Block score
- The mean of the answered dimensions in that block.
- Overall score
- The mean of all answered dimensions, unweighted. Technology has nine dimensions and carries that weight on purpose: it is where most of the investment sits.
- Stars
stars = clamp(floor(mean) + 1, 1, 5). A mean of 2.4 is three stars; 3.0 is four. The numeric mean is always shown beside the stars.- Provisional
- Any report with fewer than sixteen answers is marked provisional and says how many were scored.
04Roadmap ranking
Priorities available: Cost, Quality, Speed, Flexibility, Sustainability, Safety.
Each dimension gets a gap and a fit. The gap is the distance to the target band. The fit is how strongly the dimension serves the priorities you chose, using a fixed affinity table (none, some, strong) and rank weights of 1.0, 0.7 and 0.4 for your first, second and third priority.
gap = max(0, target − current)
fit = Σ weight_k · affinity[priority_k][dimension] / (2 · Σ weight_k)
0.5 if no priorities were chosen
score = gap × (0.5 + fit)Ties break by gap, then by the lower current band, then by dimension order. Dimensions at or above the target score zero and are listed after the gaps. The top five gaps are the first moves.
05Data
Nothing leaves your browser. Answers are kept in local storage on this device so you can close the tab and come back. There is no account and no server-side database. The optional executive summary, when enabled, sends only the scores to a server route.
06Attribution and build
Dimension structure follows the publicly published Smart Industry Readiness Index; band descriptors are simplified, original wording. Not affiliated with INCIT or Singapore EDB.
